Dear those looking to donate,
First off, thank you! I appreciate the time given to read this page.
I am Baylee Bogard, a Sophomore at Newport Harbor High School and a two year member of the Youth and Government program.
I decided to join this program out of the interest of politics; I had no idea the impact it would have on my life. The passion of government sparked earlier than freshman year, but I had not yet found a program that could ignite such a spark within me. My first time in Sacramento was something I will never forget. It was not because of the city, the capitol, and not even the food. The memorability was instead due to our committee working so incredibly hard on our bill and when the time came, it could finally be shared. As our bill traveled through mock Senate, we were all bracing ourselves for impact. 'Would is pass?' we thought. It did! And our bill even passed through mock Assembly. The stress was off and the victory felt amazing.
This is only ONE of the many things Youth and Government has given me. Along with this passion, the program taught me patience and tolerance. A lot of new members have to experience this realization of patience; including myself last year. Students from all over California have the opportunity to express their opinions in front of 500 - 5,000 other students. It is important to remember these other peers have different backgrounds which helps make who they are.
My background also helps to mend the Baylee people know today. As a citizen of Newport Beach, I am very privileged; I am provided with a financial advantage. I am able to afford the program's payments, but not all Youth and Government members have this same privilege. This is why we need YOU. By donating to this page YOU can help make a difference in a student's life; the same difference I was able to experience.
Thank you. I hope you can find this page as some inspiration to donating to this memorable program,
Baylee Bogard :)
